Thala Dhoni was born on July 7, 1981 in Ranchi. Poverty-stricken family. So much of his hobbies are spent playing with roadside friends. Dhoni loves to paint. In addition to playing, he spent other leisure time on painting. Dhoni's favorite sport at a young age was football and badminton! Dhoni has been a goalkeeper on the football team for a long time. Dhoni was told by his friends to keep the team when team wicket keeper injured during a cricket match.For Dhoni, who played cricket at the time, cricket seemed to be a better sport than football. Cricket is so contagious.

A very naughty boy at a young age. Dhoni said in an interview that "playing downhill with friends at a young age, the area where he lived was full of mountains kept him still physically fit. If Dad told him to go to fitness classes, he would escape and go out with friends."

Entry into cricket life:

He was playing for the Bihar team at a young age. Then Dhoni was the lone man in many matches to score a hundred and amaze many. But his team was losing.So,often Dhoni could not make it into the Indian team. At that moment, the BCCI did the job of identifying young talents at the Indian level. The then captain Saurav Ganguly was surprised to see Dhoni score a century for the Zimbabwe team. Then Dhoni clashed in the match against Bangladesh. But unfortunately it ran out early.

However, Ganguly relied on Dhoni's talent and continued to give him opportunities. Dhoni played well in the match against Pakistan and scored 148 runs. He scored 183 runs in the match against Sri Lanka.He thus set the world record for most runs by a wicket-keeper. He then became the vice-captain of the India team in the Ireland series. He captained India in the 2007 Twenty 20 World Cup. The Indian team won the trophy due to its incredible performance and efficient leadership of the team.

A Cool Captain:

Dhoni captained India in the 2007 20-20 World Cup and helped team to win the trophy by defeating Pakistan by 5 runs.It was the first trophy won by him for Indian team.After the victory,towards the end of 2007 and the beginning of 2008 all the legends were retired.He was then handed the ODI's captaincy 
in 2008 on the consent of Anil Kumble and Sachin Tendulkar. He made his debut as full time test captain against Australia in 2008.Later then in 2009 India spotted the first rank in Test cricket under Dhoni's captaincy.

2011 was a turning point not only in Dhoni's life but also in Indian history. India have not won a trophy in the World Cup since 1983. 2011 World Cup was Tendulkar's final World Cup."We will win this World Cup for Sachin," Dhoni said. Dhoni showed his speed in the final against Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka were knocked out for 274 in the 48th over with a single six. India won the World Cup after 23 years. Then Sachin praised Dhoni as the best of the captains I have ever seen.

He didn't stop of winning trophies for Indian team.In 2013 he guided the Indian team and paved the team to the winning way by defeating England by 5 runs.Thus he became the first Indian Captain to won all the ICC Trophies.Under his captaincy India had won lot of trophies which made him a successful captain.He was fondly called as Captain Cool for remaining patience even under a pressure situations.Other than winning trophies for Indian team,he also did the same for Chennai Super Kings alllies CSK. Csk fans used to called him "Thala" which doesn't suit for any other.So far he has won 3 IPL trophies for CSK and will come more.

Dhoni's Favourite:

Likes Lata  Mangeshkar's songs; Sachin and Gilchrist are his favorite players. Video game fanatic. Counter Strike Favorite was his favourite Video Game. Interested in painting from an early age. He desire to collect new bikes in high. He has all the Harley Davidson bikes.

 He is not only legend in cricket but also in humanity.When the Jharkhand government invited Dhoni to act in an advertisement for Let's Go to School to Enroll Children in Schools, he acted for free without receiving a single rupee. He has set up the Sakshi Foundation in the name of his wife and has been doing a lot of help for children affected by AIDS and helpless children.

He has left his mark on his life, on cricket and on the minds of the Indian people as Thala Dhoni.


Dhoni's Retirement:

He was the captain of the Indian Test cricket team from 2008 to 2014 and announced his retirement from Test cricket on 30 December 2014. Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the star player of the Indian team, has been the subject of various comments over the past one year regarding his retirement from international cricket.In a video posted on his Instagram page he said, “Dhoni has announced his retirement from international cricket.This retirement notice goes into effect from August 15 at 7:29 p.m. Thank you to all the fans who love me immensely."His announcement made all the nations stunned.It is noteworthy that Dhoni, who proudly claims Chennai as his second hometown, has announced his retirement as he was in Chennai on Independence Day.

Dhoni, who is currently captaining the Chennai Super Kings, has arrived in Chennai for training for the IPL T20 cricket tournament which starts in the United Arab Emirates on the 19th of next month.
